Dr Manohar Dole Medical Foundation

Dr Dole Medical Foundation was founded in 1982 by Dr. Manohar K. Dole (Founder Trustee) and his colleagues in memory of Late Shri. Mohan Thuse, a devoted young social worker. This charitable eye hospital is registered under Bombay Public Charitable Trust Act No. F 2678 dated the 7th March 1984.


Infrastructure

This charitable eye hospital was started in an old house with almost no financial resources under the able guidance of reputed ophthalmic surgeons from Pune. Then after 15 years the government of Maharashtra has made available 10,000 Sq.ft. land for hospital. The Philanthropic Thuse family has donated 3,600 Sq.ft. of land for the hospital. The construction of the building is totally done from the amount of donation received from the public and the generous   donors. In the begining, the charitable eye hospital conduct 15 to 20 free eye camps every month from the different area of Junnar, Ambegaon, Khed   and Shirur taluka of Pune district as well as Sangamner, Akole and Parner taluka of Ahmednagar district and Murbad, Mokhada from Thane district.

Achievement



The world bank has chosen this hospital for non recurring grant as well as the District Blindness Control Society (Pune, Maharashtra) has granted permission to the hospital. The donors can avail benefits under IT Sec.80 G(50%) & Sec.35 A/C (100%) Income Tax exemption facility. The Hospital is registered under foreign contribution Regulation Act. (F.C.R.A. NO.083930345). We have conducted a pilot research project for Cataract Detection Survay in 8 villages. The sponsorer was Rock Feller Foundation, America & Organize by Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TISS) Social Science, Mumbai.
